How to make a puppet theater out of toilet rolls

Puppet theatre doesn't have to be an expensive business if you make characters out of toilet paper rolls according to our instructions. You can have new ones for each game.

I've always been sorry that we don't have a family puppet show that's passed down from generation to generation. My best longing was for a buffoon. But it wasn't, and I didn't even see the right one in the store. Moreover, the number of characters was always limited, so only similar fairy tales could be played. And so we had the idea at home to make a variable theater. From the reeds you have unlimited number of characters and it only takes a while to make new ones for the next fairy tale. Either you keep the figurines as they are, or you can stick them on a stick. Then all you have to do is take the stage to a higher place and play real theater. At home, we like to move the animals with their hands, because then the children will play with the figurines even according to their own without the theater.

The basis for this is the fairy tale Boudo, boudičko. I'm sure you know it from kindergarten or grandma too. The animals discover a cottage in the forest and each new one asks: Boudo, shed, who dwells in you. There is a dispute over animals because there are multiple versions. In our country was Mouse Hrabalka, Žabka Kuňkala, Bunny Ušáček, Liška Ryška and then of course Bear All-Eater, who will destroy the cottage. Those who do not know the fairy tale can look here.

Need

For puppets – paper roll, self-adhesive colored papers, colored papers, blindfolds, melting gun, glue, scissors, needle, thread, marker, pompoms

On the scene – narrow solid paper box, remnants of self-adhesive film, scissors

Hrabalka Mouse
The only mouse is lying down. Shorten the roll, cover with a longer piece of paper. On one side, fold the paper and close the roll. That's where the nose comes in. On the other hand, pull the paper down with a thread and entrust it together to form a nose, on which glue the melting gun pompom.

Pompoms will also serve on the ears and paws. Glue the eyes and on the buttocks of the strip of paper eye. If you don't have blindfolds, paint them or make them by sticking a small black one with a melting gun to a large white button.

Kuňkalka flip-flop
Glue the whole roll with green paper, add eyes, yellow tummy and a mouth with a tongue. The tummy is just a colored rectangle that you round from one side. Glue the green legs to the bottom of the roll and from the side of the hand. Cut out their paw fingers.

Bunny Ušáček
The procedure is the same as for a flip-flop. Only the nose is drawn with a marker, and the ears are made of two strips of paper glued inside the handle. Do not forget about the little pompom as a pompom as a pompom.

Fox Ryška
She wasn't in the fairy tale, but I liked another fairy tale with a bunny. Glue the roll and glue two triangles as ears from the inside of the roll. They can be two-color. To create a nose, glue a paper triangle under the eyes with a melting gun and a pompom on it. The rest is the same as the flip-flop. To make the tail, cut the paper rectangle in half into centimeter strips. Then you roll it up and glue it with a melting gun.

Bear All-Black
First, cut out the bear's head, which you will glue with colored paper, glue the melting gun with your eyes and nose. A piece of white paper is a base under the mouth drawn with a marker. Glue the whole roll with colored paper and glue the head to the top with a melting gun. The rest is the same as the flip-flop. Don't forget the pompom's pompom.

Dog
Again, cut out the head first, make contours and mouth with a marker and glue the eyes and pompom nose. Then the procedure is the same as that of a bear. Only the back of the sheet forms a rolled-up strip of paper. Watch out, he's got to be up there, he's a cheerful and confident dog.

Koala
This was supposed to be a bear, but it didn't look like much. So it's a koala. The procedure is the same as for a flip-flop. Plus, they're just pompom ears and a pompom.

Scene
Make sure there's a place to play, make a stage. For me, it was enough for an ordinary solid narrow box, from which first cut off the back side. Then cut off the front so that there are about four centimeter edges left. Cover the front and sides of the theatre with self-adhesive film. I have a lot of leftovers here, because I keep going to the wallpaper store, where they sell them for a few crowns. But easily paint the scene or light the remnants of the fabric. And whoever wants to, he can hang a curtain on his wire.
