Once you put a spoon in it and taste it, you won't want to stop! Salted caramel is just fantastic and dangerously addictive. And when you cook a few glasses of this homemade goodness, you can give them as edible gifts at Christmas. Success is guaranteed!
200g white sugar- 90g butter
- 125ml cream (at least 30%, ideally 33%)
- teaspoon of sea salt
Allow the butter and cream to stand at room temperature.
1. Put the sugar in a saucepan or higher pan, heat it and stir until dissolved. Make sure your caramel doesn't burn! Then withdraw the heat and stir in the sliced butter. It takes a while, but don't worry, eventually the two masses will merge. It just takes a patient job with a scourge.
2. Then start ing the cream gradually, stirring constantly. Leave the mixed caramel and cream to boil for a minute and remove from the stove.
3. At this last stage, add a teaspoon of salt to the caramel and mix carefully to dissolve. Then fill the still hot caramel into clean glasses and make a cup. As the caramel cools, it'll get cold. Keep the glasses in the fridge.
Allow the caramel to loosen at room temperature for a while or heat briefly in the microwave. Pancakes, waffles, cakes, candy creams and coffee… you can use this goodness in the kitchen 🙂
Our tip: Use suitable equipment when preparing. In a stainless steel pot or pan, you can see how the caramel changes color. And for mixing, reach for metal or wooden equipment, especially pay attention to plastics or plastic parts – these could take their own in a really hot caramel mass.
